Stray - I Wander Through Streets

Stray

I wander through streets, cold and alone,
Scavenging scraps, with no place called home.
Your eyes pass over me, too numb to care,
While hunger and fear are mine to bear.

You took my pup,
Without a word, without my say,
I can’t stop you,
Only hope you care for him, in your way.

I’ve watched my friends fall,
To cars, to hunger, to pain,
No one to mourn them, no one to name.
Each day is a fight, but I can’t explain.

I have the same right,
On this earth as you do,
I hope you remember it,
When the world feels too far from view.

I long for a touch, a place to rest,
But the streets are harsh, and life’s a test.
I don’t ask for much, just a little grace,
A moment of kindness, a familiar face.
